Document Design
I created a distinct visual style for all official documents in the English
Graduate Department at Oklahoma State University.

All departmental forms incorporate this visual style and placement of
common content so that users recognize at a glance that this is an
English Graduate document and are able to quickly locate pertinent
information.

The
English Graduate Guidelines were originally published in
two-column format with in-line headings. I updated the format to
increase readability by optimizing line length and placing greater
emphasis on headings and key words.

All documents had been available only as paper copies. I made the
new computer-fillable forms available online to better meet needs of
students, and to increase readability and ease of data entry by faculty
and staff.

I also published the
English Graduate Guidelines in searchable PDF
format and included a user guide to explain bookmarks and other
features to new users. I published this unwieldy document in
separate sections so students only needed to download the chapter
that pertained to their degree program.
